Speaking during a recent public conversation, Alicia Keys addressed what she sees as a persistent imbalance in the music business. She explained that despite years of progress, the industry still operates in ways that favor men, particularly in roles like production and engineering.

Keys pointed to her organization, She Is the Music, as a direct response to that gap. The initiative focuses on increasing opportunities and visibility for women across all areas of the industry. She noted that change is happening, but not fast enough to reflect the level of talent currently entering the field.

In the same discussion, Keys also spoke about creative ownership and the pressure artists face in a digital environment. Alongside her partner Swizz Beatz, she has been exploring new ways to present art and music outside traditional systems.

She also acknowledged the growing role of artificial intelligence and social media, describing both as tools that can either support or complicate artistic expression, depending on how they are used.
