Pink has addressed criticism she received after sharing a social media post objecting to Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian performance during Ed Sheeran’s recent New Jersey concerts. In a lengthy statement released Friday, the singer said the original repost used language she would not have chosen herself and did not fully explain her position.
The controversy followed Macklemore’s performances at MetLife Stadium, where he performed his protest song Hind’s Hall, displayed images connected to the war in Gaza and voiced support for Palestinians. Pink said her concern was not his use of the phrase Free Palestine, but how she believed Jewish members of the audience could have experienced the performance.
Pink emphasized that she does not speak for Israel or any government. She said Palestinians deserve a future that respects their humanity while also condemning Hamas and antisemitism.
She also said she is not calling for Macklemore to be removed from the tour or silenced, stressing that her response was about expressing concerns as a Jewish woman and mother.
