Bad Bunny marked the opening of his Chile tour stop with a nod to the country’s cultural history during his concert in Santiago. Performing at Estadio Nacional, the artist paused the show to honor Víctor Jara, one of Chile’s most influential musicians and activists.

The tribute centered on “El derecho de vivir en paz,” a song closely linked to social justice movements in Chile. During the performance, Bad Bunny’s band played the piece as images referencing Jara appeared on stage, drawing a strong response from the audience.

Jara was a folk singer, theater director, and political activist whose work became associated with the country’s leftist movements. After the 1973 military coup led by Augusto Pinochet, he was detained at Estadio Nacional, tortured, and later killed. His death turned him into a lasting symbol of resistance and artistic freedom in Chile.

By acknowledging Jara at a venue tied to that history, Bad Bunny connected his global tour with Chile’s past, offering a moment of remembrance within a large-scale pop concert.
